Romans 8:1-2 English Standard Version (ESV)
Life in the Spirit
8 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
This verse comes from my sister Amy this week. The blessing that this verse brings about is that sin and death is a law. One of the definitions of a law is this:
The condition of social order and justice created by adherence to such a system.
So using that definition we get the condition of the social order and justice created by the adherence to this social order is sin and death.
See we live on this world where there is sin and death that is the condition of this social order. Nevertheless this verse also brings a change, and that is for those who are in Christ or to say it in another way for those who are followers of Christ there is no condemnation Condemn means this:
To pronounce judgment against; sentence.
So now taking this we see that those who are in Christ will not have judgement against them. But judgement from what? It would appear that this verse is stating from sin and death, so though we know we will all sin and die, the ones who are in Christ will not have a judgement put on them where they will forever be separated from Christ, though they may die physically the LAW of the Spirit of life has set us free in Christ. We are free from sin and death if we follow Christ, but this does not mean we will not sin and not die it means that though we will since we are in Christ we will be seen by our Heavenly Father as sinless and death will not have the final answer.
Mom today I know because you were in Christ here, that you are now with Christ. That's the assurance that I have that I too will be, since I am in Christ!
Love you mom and especially love you Jesus.

1 Timothy 6:11 English Standard Version (ESV)
Fight the Good Fight of Faith
11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
This verse comes from Church at Harvest Palos this week. These are instructions from Paul to Timothy. Paul is charging or instructing Timothy who is a man of God to flee from ungodly things, and to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, and gentleness.
It's faith I like to write about here. No matter what we go through in life, faith in Christ as Christians is what we must pursue. The truth is we will never "KNOW" everything but there are a lot of things we can "know" this is ok because faith is what is the most important aspect of our lives. No matter how much we know, there will be a level of faith that has to be brought out, because it is by this that we will "KNOW" the maker of this Universe and not just "know" Him.
My mom "knew" a lot about Jesus Christ. My mom pursued faith in Him. Through the things my mom experienced in this life, single mom, taking care of 5 kids with public aid, pulling a shopping cart in the snow to bring home food for mom's kids, taking a bus to the hospital to give birth to my youngest sister Andrea. My mom's faith I can't say never waivered through these obstacles but I can say my mom 100% pursued faith and not only that, but I can say my mom pursued righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness and gentleness.
By pursuing faith my mom "KNEW" the Lord and today my mom "KNOWS" the Lord.
Mom sometime it seems so impossible to believe you are not here on Earth, but the blessing and comfort comes mom knowing that today I know where you are.
I love you mom, and I love you even more Jesus.
See you soon!

Deuteronomy 31:6-8
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not
leave you or forsake you." Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, "Be strong and
courageous, for you shall go with this people in the land that the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you
shall put them in possession of it. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or
forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."
This week's passage is given by my brother Leo. In the passage above something interesting is happening Moses who will soon
pass away and not enter The Promise Land because He did not give glory to God at the waters of Mirrabah, is commanded by
God to deliver a message to the people who led. Moses is instructing the Israelites to be strong and of good courage for
the Lord will not leave you though I am leaving you. Then Moses pulls Joshua up in front of all Israel and encourages him,
in front of the people he led saying "Be strong and courageous...He will be with you, He will not leave you or forsake you.
Do not fear or be dismayed"
Throughout this week it's been a real challenge for me. Just more and more realizing that my mom is no longer here. Like
Moses was for the people of Israel I just kept thinking of how my mom took care of me and my siblings. Even as I touched on
it last week it just keeps hitting me more and more. My mom was like Moses a great leader, then it was time for Moses to
leave the people, just like my mom. The parallels are there. My mom led me through so many dicouraging times as a kid, but
by God's grace my mom always found a way to provide. I was able to go to school, have food, go to High School then College,
then work, get married, and get through so many things in life. As my mom's struggles turned in my favor, mom passes from
this life to be with The Lord.
The most important thing is that my mom led me to Jesus Christ to God the Father to have the Holy Spirit, because mom was
the leader.
I look at my life today and like the people of Israel and Joshua, being encouraged by Moses to know that though Moses led
them, it is the Lord who is with them. God took care of Moses and allowed him to lead the people. Just like my mom God took
care of my mom and allowed my mom to lead myself and my siblings. In life I am encouraged to know that The Lord is always
with us. Like Moses my mom had a mission in mom's life, and when that work was over like Moses, Mom went to be with Jesus.
That is encouragement, to know that I like Joshua must lead others to Christ and for Christ until the day I return to be
with the Lord.
Thank you Mom for being my Earthly leader, thank you Jesus because it was ALWAYS by your Grace and your Care that My mom
could lead us.

2 Timothy 4:7
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
This week's passage is given by my brother Leo. Paul is speaking to Timothy and telling him and encouraging him that though Paul will be leaving this life and have persevered through so much, his time has come. Paul wrote in the 6th verse, "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come." This indicates to us that Paul is suffering the sentiments that would lead him to believe his time is up. Timothy perhaps is being placed in a position where Paul was, now may face the same fate as his mentor has. Paul however encourages young Timothy with those words, but it is also encourages us today.
My mom worked so hard in this life. I shared with my Bible Study Fellowship group that my mom single parent raised 5 kids, mom was only 5 feet tall, mom didn't work, was a foreigner in this land, mom didn't have a car but pulled a shopping cart at least 2 miles one way and 2 miles back to get groceries for mom's kids. Then mom after all this and mom's kids grew up, mom started suffering with Fibromyalgia, then High Blood Pressure, then joint pains, and bone loss, leading to Rheumatoid Arthritis. My mom was found at home at peace on September 25th sleeping on the couch, but mom was not sleeping. My mom finished the race, and my mom at times may have been upset with God, my mom's faith never waivered.
This is the truth of everyone of us, we will all leave this life, but we must all finish the race, keeping the faith like Paul wrote. The rest of the verse reads like this:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
Today my mom is in the presence of Jesus.
Mom I miss you daily, what you did for me by God's grace will carry me as I am a product of you fighting.
I love you mom. I love you Christ.
See you soon.

" I AM The Resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes
in me will never die."
-John 11:25-26
Tonight's verse comes from my sister Amy. I went back to read a little further to get the context of what is happening in
this passage. Jesus was called to His friend's Lazarus' grave, where he just passed away. Martha a sister of Lazarus spoke
these words to Jesus in the 21st verse:
21 Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever
you ask from God, God will give you."
Martha in the above passage though sad trusted Christ. How did she trust? She trusted in who He says He is (God in Human
flesh). Being sad a lot during some weeks just thinking of mom, I could relate to how Martha felt. I could just sometimes
sit and and image of what my mom did for will pop into my head. Now that Mother's Day is only a few days away, I recall a
certain Mother's Day when I was driving home from COllege, I saw my mom walking down the street coming home from the store
and I asked mom to get in the car...lol. Mom got in though we were only a few feet from the house, I pulled over to the
front of the house and said, mom I am graduating on Sunday. My mom was really happy, Mom said "For Mother's Day?" and mom
gave me a kiss on my cheek.
23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 24 Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the
resurrection on the last day."
There is Martha again showing how she trusted Jesus. It's what we as Christians today know to be true. See I know my mom
has passed from this life, but there will be a time when my mom will rise again, it is in this passage that Martha affirms
her belief in what Jesus will do and that is on the last day raise her brother, and on the last day Christ will return my
mom's spirit to my mom's body.
Seems foolish to some, but the truth is trusting in Jesus is the most important thing we can do and there is a life after
this one is over.
25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and
everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" 27 She said to him, "Yes, Lord; I believe that
you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world."
Though Lazarus died and as the rest of the passage unfolds Jesus raised him back up at that very hour. Lazarus eventually
died again. But as Martha believed that on the last day Lazarus will rise, we know that anyone who believes in Christ
though they will die they will live. Sounds like a contradiction? It's not. It's about understanding who Christ says He is.
Trusting in Jesus as Martha did and believing in what He says though all of us will die we will live, just as my mom today
is and on the last all who believe in Christ will rise from their graves again, albeit ashes or physical, God will raise
us.
Mom I love you. I love you Jesus.
Happy Mother's Day Mom, I still can feel that kiss on my cheek.
I love you Jesus, thank you for redeeming the world.

Week 72 May 13, 2015
"Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;"
-James 1:19
Tonight's verse comes from my sister Amy. The weekend was really difficult for me
because it was Mother's Day weekend. On Friday one of my good friends called me and told me his Dad had passed away, this
was hard for me to hear. Losing someone you love in my experience has been the hardest thing, but let me be specific,
having my mom pass from this life into Eternity has been the most difficult and challenging ordeal I so far had to
face in my 38 years on this Earth. I know most importantly the Lord is with me through it all.
As I came home last Friday I had a lot on my mind, mom included, family included and my friend included.
I felt words could not describe the feelings I felt. Then out of somewhere, I turned and looked at a calendar on my mom's
Fridge. It was on May and it was from 2012, and as I looked at it my eyes went to May 13, 2012. It was Mother's Day and
this was Mother's Day weekend 2015. My mom circled the 13th and then mom wrote on the calendar (in mom's famous
handwriting :) ) "Mother's day, we went to Viceroy Res.". Viceroy is an Indian Restaurant that we took mom and mom enjoyed it.
Mom told me a story that day without speaking words, but through the memories mom created. Mom let me know that mom enjoyed
the little things. The verse above doesn't preclude in what circumstances, but I think the Lord uses anything, little or big
things to accomplish and comfort us. In this case it was in the little things that I found comfort.
I must have walked pass that calendar 1,000 times and it was in this moment that the Lord opened me up to something my mom
did that brought comfort and solace to me on busy and hard Friday. I shared this with my friend and he thanked and agreed that we
just have to look for these these little things as the Lord leads us.
I'll share the last portion of the message I wrote to my friend on Friday:
"...Mom showed me it's OK, it's about the time we have, and mom showed me today mom enjoyed the little restaurant and
Mother's Day. That brings a smile to my face. When you start missing your Dad, sir (I always call my friend sir out of
respect) I believe there will be times where the Lord will direct your steps to find things that remind you how much they
love you. Just look for them.....Glory to God"
Mom I love you. Jesus I love you.
See you soon!

Week 73 May 20, 2015
"Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people and God himself will
be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be
mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." -Revelation 21:3-4
Tonight's verse comes from my brother Leo. After my mom left this Earth in 2013, I had a hard time deal with this. I ended
looking for a grief counseling course and came to a program called Grief Share. Grief Share is a good organization that are
that is hosted at Churches for people going through a loss. What happens at a Grief Share 12 week program is that you watch
a 30 - 45 minute video on a various topic related to a loss, and then for about 30- 45 minutes everyone sits in a circle
and shares if they feel comfortable doing so. One of the videos that I still remember was the video where Dr. David Sharp
quoted Revelation 21:3-4, where he says the image is that of Jesus coming off His throne and He personally wipes every tear
from the eyes of Believers. As Christ does this He tells them it's over you made it and you will never again experience
death, or mourning, or crying or pain.
What a beautiful image! The image is meant to convey a greater truth that Believers now will be in the presence of their
Creator Jesus Christ. The worries of this current life will one day be over.
Today my mom who is a Believer in Jesus Christ, a follower of Him and is in the presence of our Lord. SOmetimes it is for
me an unfathomable truth but nevertheless it is the truth and Christ being home with the Lord is worth every struggle we
face here. One day the struggles will be over, the only thing that will remain is what's done for Christ. Just as my mom is
experiencing now.
Mom I love you. Jesus I love you. The worries of this life will be over one day and I will see you soon. But until then I
will live for Jesus.

"24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into
judgment, but has passed from death to life." -John 5:23
Tonight's verse comes from my sister who sent the verse out on Monday which was Memorial Day. This verse speaks on Christ
showing His authority, stating the one who believes in God has eternal life, and they will pass from judgement from death
to life.
What a beautiful image, showing that death is the entry way to life. So many times we think of this as opposite. We think
that death ends a life. We often say I loss my loved one, or my spouse has died or my best friend is dead. The truth is
even reading this scripture we see something very different but something very clearly that Jesus is stating. Jesus is
stating that death is an entry way to life. However, there is a strict distinction which Christ makes clear and that is
"...whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life." Putting your trust and believe in Jesus Christ
is the answer to life and the answer to life after this temporary one is over.
As Hank Hanegraaff often says "the death rate is one per person and we will all make it"...because we will all surely pass
from this life, through death, but Eternal life comes for those who have trusted in Christ.
Today my mom is in Heaven, mom I know is happy and I know my mom has Eternal life because my mom trusts in Jesus Christ.
I love you mom and I love you Lord. See you soon.

"1 So Israel took his journey with all that he had and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father
Isaac. 2 And God spoke to Israel in visions of the night and said, "Jacob, Jacob." And he said, "Here I am." 3 Then he
said, "I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great
nation. 4 I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also bring you up again, and Joseph's hand shall close your
eyes." -Genesis 46:1-4
Tonight's grabbed me, in the sense of catching my attention and reminded me of my mom. In this passage Joseph who was sold
into slavery by his very brothers, and then thought to be dead was able to provide a blessing for his family by God's
grace. Israel, (also known as Jacob) thought his son Joseph was dead, but when Joseph's brothers went to Egypt to buy grain
because of the famine, they discovered their brother was still alive but not only that but he was a leader in Egypt.
Israel was asked by Joseph to come to Egypt to live. Israel now an old man according to this passage seemed a scared to go
down to Egypt, but the Lord told him not to be afraid, for there God will make him into a great nation, but not only that
God would go with him. The part that caught my attention the most was the part where the Lord said "and Joseph's hand shall
close your eyes."
Sometimes I wonder how my mom felt, what experience my mom went through as my mom left this life and entered into the
new.as It's difficult for me sometimes, but tonight as I read this passage it leads me to see that the Lord is always with
us, and will not leave us, as believers in Christ. In the passage God says:
"Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you into a great nation. 4 I myself will go down with you to
Egypt, and I will also bring you up again, and Joseph's hand shall close your eyes."
The Lord will bring, us up again, and our eyes shall see a final glimpse of this world.
Mom from this passage I know the Lord is with you and is with you when you took you last breath. Thank you Jesus for being
the one who came to save us, so we can experience and have eternal life with, and thank you Lord for always being with us,
even until our final breath and beyond.
I love you mom and I love you Jesus.
