Weekly Verse and Song for Tonight Weeks 277 - 285

Week 277
Philippians 4:6
" 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
After surgery last week I fund myself very anxious about recovery and getting back to doing what I normally do. However in tonight's verse we see what the Lord tells us, and that is to not be anxious but to go to God in prayer with thanksgiving.
It is such an important part of a Christians walk that is:
1. to go to God ask of Him in prayer
2. listen
3. see your situation from His perspective
I recall many times my mom telling me through various situations I was facing that my mom was praying for me.
So in my current situation I find myself reminded to seek The Lord.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
Home without Anxious.

Week 278
James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the LORD. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
I was talking with a friend yesterday in regards to my surgery as this is week 3. I was telling my friend that I was starting to get angry at myself for letting this happen. One of the things she said was to trust God and know that where you are at is where He has you.
In tonight's verse we see James by God's grace telling us if you lack wisdom ask of God, but when you ask and receive this wisdom BELIEVE. This is so true of myself and all Christians to trust in God and know He has us where He wants us. We may ask (question) but not doubt. Throughout this process I trust that God has me where I am for His purpose and His glory. That's all I need to know.
At these times it does also allow me to reflect and to relate more with my mom who throughout mom's life suffered from various ailments both mental and physical. This reflection and relation just allows me to have more respect and admiration for mom.
So for one God through my friend and through my reflection/ relation in regards to what mom went through is teaching me something that is for m good and for His glory (Romans 8:28). All Christians should seek God in every and all situations. Once the seeking and wisdom is gained we should learn to trust.
I love you mom and I love you Jesus.
Home without doubt.

Week 279
Isaiah 41:9-13 9
I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. 11 "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. 12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. 13 For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Many times I feel things come against me to dissolve or limit my faith in God. In tonight's verse we see the prophet Isaiah tell the nation to not fear their enemies for God is with them, and that their enemies will be gone.after surgery
Throughput the recovery process after surgery I find myself with a mix of emotions. Some of these emotions are good and some bad. Example of a bad emotion is trying to do the right thing give the company that has granted me time off the paperwork they need, yet they still seemingly care more about their standards and practices rather than me and my recovering fully. Even in this I am tempted to wonder "where are you Lord?", however as I read through tonight's passage I can see clearly that as a believer He is always there.
This need to allow others to grant me what I need for the time off to recover brings me back to understanding more about mom. Mom needed help to raise us and needed the means to do so. Mom depended on assistance, however as I write this and recall tonight's passage I know I am as mom was fully depended on God to offer us His help in every and any situation.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
Home soon being depended on God.

Week 280
Ephesians 4:31-32 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Throughout my time as a committed follower of Jesus Christ I found myself studying The Bible more and more to truly understand what scriptures teach us and to draw closer to Jesus. In tonight's verse we see Paul speaking to the Church in Ephesus specifically in regards to being kind to others.
As humans we can understand that we all live among each other and there will be times of disagreement, that can lead to resentment, bitterness, arguing, quarreling and even fighting. As Christians we are all susceptible to these things as well in other words we are not immune to disagreements that can lead to an unpleasant experience. Though this non-immunity is subject to all as followers of Christ we can know that we are called to a higher level, which is to forgive, because we know through Jesus we are forgiven.
Through the weeks following surgery I see people who I considered friends disappear on a figurative sense. My first instinct is to get upset, but my second is to choose to forgive, knowing and believing that they all may be going through their own obstacles. My mom raised 5 kids, caring for us daily food, shelter, schooling, and much more. Mom dedicated mom's life first to Christ then to us. One by one we all "left" as we got older soon daily talks would turn into weekly, weekly to monthly, on top of that appearances by visiting mom would lessen. Through it all I could say mom though ailing never became bitter by the lack from mom's kids, mom trusted God and mom did mom's best.
It's up to each of us who know Jesus to honor Him by following what he commands of us and that is to forgive.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
Home with the God who forgives us through Jesus.

Week 281
Matthew 6:29
"Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these."
There are always times in life when one can feel a lone and feel that things will never get better. In tonight's verse we encounter Jesus speaking to the crowd addressing them about being anxious.
After surgery and especially today I seem to encounter many people who are "doctors" giving me advice on what I should and should not do. Honestly all of the advice are unsolicited and has caused me a bit of anxiety.
I'll never forget that one day on one of my mom's "bad day" when mom was feeling down I pulled out The Bible and asked mom to read this verse, and how mom pronounced "Solomon" struck me and I told myself that if anything ever happened to mom I would read this verse (which I did). The verse speaks so much to Christians knowing that God no matter what assumes responsibility for our lives and will take care of us.
No matter what in life people will always give us unsolicited advice, which may cause us to feel anxious. However a firm foundation in Christ trusting Him in our situations will bring us back to a place of humbleness as we understand that God's ways are to give us hope and a future with Him.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.

Week 282
John 8:12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."
Personally I find the hardest part of being a Christian is how to live in the world despite what happens in the world. In tonight's verse we see Jesus in the pages of John tell His disciples that if we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness but walk with Him.
Recently I wrote about a work situation which seemingly gets worse every day. Though these situations do come, Christ promises that we who follow Him will not be a lone as they will have His Light.
Growing up I know my mom raised us to be believers in Christ and shielded us from the world in a sense. However, life's struggles (financial, emotional, etc.) no matter what were always apparent, and though these I saw mom try mom's best to keep focus on Christ.
The world continues and as followers of Christ we must know what it means to follow Christ. There will be struggles while we live here. However through every situation we must remember and know that Light of life, that is Jesus Christ walks with us.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
Home with the Light of life.

Week 230
Proverbs 2:1-5 ESV
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
Sometimes it seems that there are many choices in life and sometimes there seems there are very few. As Christians, that is, as followers of Christ it is so important not to be swayed by emotions and our own self thinking. It's is however so important to be influenced by Jesus, how can this be done? Tonight's verse shows us as Christians how. The verse states that we are to:
1. "receive" the words of God
2. treasure up God's commandments
3. be attentive to wisdom
4. understand
5. ask God for insight
6. raise our cries for understanding
7. search for insight and understanding
Then we will understand an have reverence for God, and gain knowledge, of Him.
As believers this is how we are to live our lives so that when choices come, job change, starting a business, getting married, buying a house, etc. We will already have put in practice these things and be able to make wise godly choices.
I recall after mom passed mom's at home nurse, told us that she will miss our mom, as your mom was always so wise.
This came because mom spent many years alone and I believe mom put these items into practice.
So should we as believers.
I love you Mom and I love you Lord.
Home soon with our Good Counselor Jesus.

Week 283
Psalm 62:6 6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken
Over the last few months since surgery I feel all sorts of emotions, mostly down. In tonight's verse we see the Psalmist declare that God is his firm foundation, his salvation, and fortress therefore he will not be shaken.
This is the key take away for every Christian to remember that Christ is our everything in everything.
Sometimes remembering this while in the middle of a situation that brings you down is hard. I remember my mom telling me to talk to a pastor friend while I struggled with something in the past. God will provide for our needs, today I just so happened to meet a Christian person who knew somewhat of how I was feeling and boosted me up. At the very same time I met two other people who gave me a level boost and encouraged me.
In life our first place to turn to is God and He knowing our needs will provide what we need how we need it and better than what we need.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
Home with Him who provides for us.

Week 284
2 Timothy 3:1-5 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
It's always the case it seems that when we meet someone they will have different ideals and thoughts about any subject. At the heart of every matter however for a Christian is Christ. In tonight's verse we read a portion of a letter addressed to Timothy, where Paul tells him to stay away from people who do not honor Christ.
I always recall how mom raised us and took care us, by teaching us to know Christ and to honor Him. This instilled strong values in me as I grew older and was "on my own". Seeking after Christ and not the world was what was on my heart. To know Jesus more and not the things that are fleeting was of utmost importance to me.
Recently I met someone who was nice as can be, cared for her mom and looked after her. The one thing beyond this niceness was something that was missing which was Christ. A person can have great qualities and heart but if Christ is not the center then not only is something missing, but everything is.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
