Week 348
Deuteronomy 1:35-36
35 “No one from this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your ancestors, 36 except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.”
Daily I find myself in situations where I must trust God in other words find my faith in Him. These daily situations can be something large like looking for a job or something smaller for example getting through the work day. In tonight's verse we come to the pages of Deuteronomy 1:35-36 "35 “No one from this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your ancestors, 36 except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.” " . The Isarellites despite all they had seen God do for them, and promised them did not believe that God would deliver them the Promise Land as promised, because the people in the land were "Giants".
Growing up I would always see my mom determined to always make sure we were taken care of. Whether it was snowing outside and we needed groceries, mom would need to pull a grocery cart to the store, or praying that we would be well when we were off to school, mom would place mom's faith in Christ. As I go through these various situations I find myself looking backwards and thinking of how mom got through mom's situations, and since mom did so could I have faith that Christ is with me.
As Christians this is not an easy thing to necessarily have. That is we want control a lot over situations and circumstances. However, knowing we are His and that He has us, will show that no matter what the situation is God will take care of us, we just need to keep our faith strong in Him.
I Love you mom and Love you Lord.

Week 349
Psalm 40:3
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
One of the main things that I been experiencing this week is trust. A lot of times I take on obligations that I feel led to take on. However, at times while in the midst of those obligations it seems things become or get harder. In tonight's verse we hear from the Psalmist as the words of God are being inspired:
Psalm 40:3
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
As an adult and having the various experiences that I get to experience, I am at times looking remember mom and think "how did mom get through them". Mom would go through mom's own experience, good or bad, mom would deal with them in a specific way. When I go through those bad experiences or experiences that become harder, I tend to lean back and put my focus on God. My mom I know did the same, as mom's actions would show, mom would be praying at the kitchen table concentrating on the Lord, and even an interruption by me would have no effect as mom's concentration was on God. Perhaps mom was asking of the Lord for strength and trust through certain situations.
Being part of the body of Christ is not without faults. We all go through experiences that test that trust that we placed in Christ. Knowing that we can go to Him in prayer asking for whatever is on our hearts, whether it's asking for strength and trust through a bad experience or one that becomes harder, will get us through. Our prayers may not always be answered the way we see it to be answered, but they will be answered as the Lord see's it, that's God's role, our role is to trust Him.
I love you mom and I love you Lord

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
A lot of times I watch the news and sometimes I feel a bit saddened by what I am viewing or hearing on it. I hear things that people say about God that is not Biblically based but is based off of their own thinking, effectively making true Christians seem lost. In tonight's verse who encounter the brother of Jesus, James, here we read from James 1:27, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world". It's the last part of the verse I like to focus on.
When I was younger my mom would always take us to Church and have us dress up. At first it was not something I wanted to do, however, as the day went on and we went to Church and came back I would feel different about attending Church.. When we got their we would go the service, and hear from the pastor, go to children's Sunday school learn about scriptures and the mighty men and women of the Bible, have fellowship time, and then go home. When I would get home I would feel it was a good time. However, as I got older I started to really understand scriptures, studying what God meant, and all, even now I belong to BSF. Nevertheless misinterpreting God's word is rampant it seems in today's culture, it seems people went to Church as a kid, perhaps attended Sunday school, created an image of God in their minds, stopped and made up their own idea of God. However, as Christians we must strive to know God, to learn over and over who He is, draw close to Him and develop that personal relationship with Him.
Therefore when life takes it's "twist and turns" we won't make up our own version of God. We will remain unstained by the world and know our place with Him. It is to each Christian's advantage to know their Creator, but not know Him as we want Him to be, but to understand through prayer, and daily scripture reading and study. For we are His, we are redeemed by Him, and we live for Him.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.

Week 351
Psalm 61:1-3
Lead Me to the Rock
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David.
Hear my cry, O God,
listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to you
when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.
Most of us are facing or will face some sort of conflict that may seem overwhelming, and most of us who follow Christ know where to go when these conflicts arise, that is about 6 inches to our knees to pray to God. In tonight's verse we read from the Psalm of David a prayer to God to deliver him from his enemies:
"Hear my cry, O God,
listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to you
when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy."
David is in anguish and knows he must turn to God.
Even as an adult my mom always reminded me to pray. Mom knew when I might be going through something, and mom would say "Pray to God" and I can still here my mom's words even now, very clearly. The past few weeks I felt God pressing on me to "find a physical place" a physical place to pray to cry out to God. However, as I write these words I am also pressed to understand the reason for prayer is to talk to God, and this is not only when there is conflict, but at all times. I believe this is why the Holy Spirit is leading me to know that I must find a place for regular prayer a place to talk to God to further develop my relationship with Him.
By doing so I know that the Lord's direction for any conflict or anything for that matter would be more clear.
As Christians like David cried out to God when conflicts arise, we also need to remember the purpose or prayer to communicate with God at all times, as this is what David did. I believe that starts with finding that physical place for prayer, where when you see it, you know that's the place were you pray. This place can be anywhere.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.

Job 12:7-10
" 7 "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind."
Just this week my sister told me that her dog, was not doing so well, she decided to take the dog into the veterinarian to see what can be done. The veterinarian who has know my sister's dog for years, took a look at her and as she started to tear up said there's nothing more that can be done. In tonight's verse we come the pages of Job, who after serving God, was struck by Satan with all sorts of tragedies and ailments. Job's family was taken from him, his wife was left, his livestock were gone, he himself was stricken with boils. When all of this went down as Job was suffering his friends and wife asked and wondered why Job would not sin against God. In Job 2:10, Job replied to his wife He replied:
"You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" In all this, Job did not sin in what he said."
After my mom passed from this life I started to learning more about life realizing fully that life is not forever. My mom taught me this without words.

This verse always gets me it teaches us that God's hands are not only on us, but in His hands is the life of every creature. Nothing more can be done as the veterinarian has stated for my sister's dogs, this may be true, and this life is fleeting but the truth is she (speaking of my sister's dog) is in God's hands. This life for every one of us will end, it's never really easy but faith in Christ will carry us through, as our loved ones are carried home.

Week 353
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Each one of us goes through something where we must learn the godly principle which is at the heart of Christianity, and that is forgiveness. In tonight's verse we come to a letter written by Paul to the Church at Ephesus. Paul in his letter states in Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
One of the things my mom taught me almost silently is forgiveness. My relationship with mom wasn't perfect there were times, especially as an adult where I would get upset about something and say something I should not have said to mom. Mom would subsequently get upset back, however, I tried my very best, to not to let the day end without saying sorry to mom (Ephesians 4:26).
Just recently this week as I was explaining to a friend of mine how my sister was mourning the loss of her friend/pet, this friend became upset and lashed out at me really for no reason and I needed to end the conversation abruptly. Later, knowing in my heart that she was wrong I forgave her.
As Christians sometimes our forgiveness is silent, and sometimes it's out loud, the real meaning, is to truly know in your heart whether you forgive someone, and are therefore kind toward that person. The reason why it's so important that forgiveness starts in the heart and not necessarily on our lips, is because we may deceive ourselves. How many times have you said or someone has said to you "I am sorry" yet you are pretty certain that it wasn't sincere.
Forgiveness first starts in our hearts then exudes out, it's important regardless to truly forgive someone in your heart (Matthew 18:35)

Week 354
Mark 6:30-31
30 The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. 31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
Every year around this time, I find time to relax and regenerate myself by taking a break from work, listening to Christmas music and watching wholesome Christmas movies. As I was preparing to write this week's, weekly verse I started researching verses with regards to relaxing, however, what I found was interesting. In tonight's verse we come to the pages of Mark 6:30-31 "30 The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. 31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat." It's during this time while the disciples were wanting some rest that Jesus looked and saw the crowds following. The verse continues because Jesus had compassion for them, He taught them.
Growing up I can remember many times where mom would struggle with things in life, such as money, and family issues, however one thing mom always did was work hard no matter how tired mom would be. I remember an incident where the washing machine was broken, and we had no means of fixing it, or buying a new one. However, every Saturday mom would take the clothes and wash them by hand, ring them out and dry them in the clothes dryer that was still functioning. I recall mom doing this for a year until mom could save up enough to buy a new one.
As it relates to this scripture verse, though Jesus was getting the disciples ready for some time of relaxation, Christ did not neglect a teaching moment that could be done for the people. My mom by washing those clothes by hand taught me hard work, despite everything going on mom turned that into a silent teaching moment for me.
We as Christians though we get tired should find time for rest, however we should never forget about the teachable moments that can impact our family, friends, or community. Placing our trust in Jesus, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us will allow us to recognize those teachable times that will impact others for the rest of their lives, and most importantly for Jesus.

Week 355
Isaiah 30:21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
As I continue to walk with the Lord, I can discern His voice. In tonight's verse we come to the pages of Isaiah 30:21 and read what the prophet of God says regarding hearing the voice of God: "And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left."
I will always remember my mom telling me whenever I faced anything in life, "to pray and that I am praying for you." It was my mom's way of telling me to seek God. Just yesterday I received a package at a residents that was about 15 minutes away, however because I had work to do I could not break away to receive and put it inside. Well I felt gentle urges to go and get that package, however I was focused and wanted to wait until the morning. While I was busy, I felt an urging to go the door and open it, as I opened the door I saw that it was raining, and this wasn't just small droplets of rain it was pouring with the wind howling. As I stood there seeing this I realized that my package was at the residents but outside. While I was still busy I felt gentle urges to go and retrieve that package. I trusted and went and got the package , things that were keeping me so busy were not a problem at all and it all worked in my favor, by God's grace. I believe this was the Holy Spirit leading me regarding this issue.
This is something I am learning as I continue to walk with the Lord. I am slowly learning each day to discern His voice from others. The truth is as Christians as we continue to walk with Jesus we can discern His voice more and more each day. We must make this our prayer, which is to pray for discernment to hear Him and to trust.
I love you mom and I love you LORD.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
When things are not going right at times, it can be easy to lose focus and get overwhelmed. In tonight's verse in the book of James verse 1:5 we read: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
It's especially at times as described when we things just do not see to be going right that we should seek wisdom from the Lord. There are times when we can talk to friends and family, to get some godly advice, but we should always first turn to God and if we are led talk to others. When I was growing up I would see my mom with mom's Bible in the kitchen before bed time standing and praying. Mom had a lot to deal with as mom was raising 5 kids a lone. Mom did not have a lot of close friends or any family, and yet mom knew to seek God.
This affected me today when I go through things I am learning more and more to seek God pray and trust God. As Christians this is what we all should do. Give your life to Christ.
I love you mom and I love you Lord.
