Weekly Verse and Song for Tonight Weeks 110-118
2/3/16
Week 110:
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
This week as I ponder things like work, and just in general things I come into an area of feeling not blissful but a bit unbelievable at times. As I think about it more I realize, perhaps one reason is because it's mom's Birthday this weekend. Just remembering some of Mom's birthdays in the past, I recall one were it was so cold outside and we all went to Olive Garden for dinner. As we walked back it was so funny how my mom seemingly pushed past my sister to get in the car because of the cold -mom didn't really do that but it just seemed that way-. This had me laughing for a few minutes and even now it brings a smile and a chuckle. As I think about the past things it's interesting to know that these are things that can be held on to. I reflect a bit now how growing up we didn't even have a car to ride in and how mom took care of us....but what about now?
At times I remember that it wasn't just the memories that mom gave us but the joy of knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In Joshua 1:5 as Moses left this life, God told Joshua that though His servant is dead, that God will be with Joshua just as He was with Moses and that He will never leave him or forsake him.
"No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you."
-Joshua 1:5
This is also repeated in Hebrews, so we know that this applies to us today.
Though mom isn't here and we have the memories, it's great to know that mom lead us to Christ. Because of this leading we know we are never a lone.
Thank you mom. Happy Birthday in a few days!
Love you mom, LOVE you LORD. Home is where you are.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
The verse above points to trusting in the Lord. This week hasn't been too difficult, but "made it" as my sister Andrea would say through mom's Birthday on Saturday. The one thing I am so happy about is knowing Christ. No matter where I go, what I do, He is with me. My mom lead me to that great gift.
There are many times I don't know exactly why things are happening, but I do know that my hope is based on Jesus Christ. I encourage parents that no matter what, that you leave your kids with the knowledge of Jesus, the knowledge of who He is , God the Son, the one who paid the price for our sins. The reason being is one day you will leave this life, and the only thing that will remain that will help your kids,-even if they should they leave before you- is knowing Jesus.
I love you mom, I love you Lord.
Home is not too far away.

John 11:17-27
Jesus Comforts the Sisters of Lazarus
On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. Now Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
This passage was originally posted a few years ago. I learned today that one of my good friend's mom passed away, David Pierce's mom Denise. It brings back memories of my own mom. David and I were tight a few years ago and as life is it changes. But nevertheless his relationship with his mom was like my own with my mom. His mom and him were inseparable, they would always be by each others side. I'll never forget the day it was exactly a month after my mom passed and my car wasn't working. I went to a repair shop to get it fixed. The next day when I was going to pick it up I had a rental to return, and I needed a ride back to the shop to get the car. David and his mom came picked me up and helped me get my repaired car. I remember thinking I expected David but not his mom, lol! But nevertheless this illustrates the bond they had. I even told them that day something to the effect of "you guys take care of each other". I spoke with David today and he is follower of Christ and his mom led him to Christ, and his brother Daniel told me how his mom's sickness brought him back to Christ.
A true godly mom develops godly kids. I'm not all that but I know that my passion is toward Jesus and I thank my mom for leading me to Him. David you'll see your mom again, your mom will rise again. It's not over, Praise JESUS!
I love you mom, I love you LORD.

Jeremiah 33:3
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
This passage this week comes from my brother Leo. In this passage we read that God tells Jeremiah to ask Him and He will provide the answers. The background is Jeremiah is told by God to tell Judah that unless they repent they will perish. This week I find myself asking why did my mom had to leave this life. We too like Jeremiah can call on God and search the pages of scriptures to find answers to our questions, such as these: Hebrews 9:27 tells us "Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,"
From here we know that it is apparent this life is for us to live and to die this is not our final destination, but a life that will pass from us. By searching scriptures we can find answers to questions we may have. In the end I know today my mom is with Jesus. This week I went to my friend David's mom's funeral Denise. She is a nice lady always warm and welcoming. When I spoke to David I was happy to know that David could say that today my mom is with Jesus. David knows this because scriptures tell us so.
I use present tense "IS" even when describing those who leave this life, because scripture tells us that even though we pass from this life (die) we still exist. It is so important to study scriptures.
I love you mom, I love you LORD.
Home is where you are.

Week 114:
John 15:18
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you."
I was talking to a friend today and she was going through some really hard things with her ex husband. I mentioned to her to keep in mind that God sees this man as a lost sheep, but still cares for him. If God cares for him remember you could have compassion for him and see him as God does as a lost sheep. Despite all the things that my mom went through here in this life my mom never forgot about Jesus, sure like all of us mom had moments but mom always knew who mom's savior is.
Jesus tells us in this verse to remember people who hate us, remember they first hated Jesus. The fact that people hate who we are they really hate Jesus, they hate who we represent.
The rest of the passage Jesus states:
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. -John 15:19
We must always remember to follow Christ in this life and represent Him, despite all the odds, and oppositions. Mom did despite all the struggles and all Mom loved Jesus
I love you mom, I love you Lord.
There is no place like Home.

John 10:9-11
9"I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. 11"I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
This passage comes tonight from my sister Amy. A walk of a Christian is defined by His relationship with Jesus Christ. As we read and study God's word we develop a stronger and more intimate relationship with Jesus. In the above passage Jesus tells us He is the only way to be saved, and at the same time our Savior has a responsibility to those who follow Him. That responsibility is to the ones that follows Him and that Jesus lays His life down for His sheep, His followers.
My mom in this life followed Jesus, and my mom had a responsibility to mom's kids, and that was to "shepherd" them, by leading them to the true Shepherd Jesus Christ. When mom's "mission" was complete mom was called home to be with the Lord, never feeling anymore pain again. In much the same way a follower of Christ has a responsibility and that is to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
Mom knew this and lived it as best mom could.
I love you mom thank you for leading me to Christ. I LOVE you LORD.
We'll be Home soon.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Today is 3/16/2016, it reminds me of John 3:16. This is the ultimate promise for a Christian. As we walk daily in this life we know that we have a different type of hope that hope is in Jesus Christ, that others who are n0ot followers of Christ do not have.
Today is a great reminder that our hope is in Christ. As I write this weekly for my mom it is not without fear, it is in the presence of wanting to not be wrong with how I write what I write not necessarily about mom but more about how I speak about the scriptures. I need to be very careful not only in how I speak about God but I also carry myself. A life of a believer it is said may be the only "Gospel" others who are not followers of Christ may ever read.
My mom tried to carry mom's self in a manner worthy of Christ. It is the hope described in John 3:16 that leads us to always remember that we all need to put our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Just as others including my mom has.
I love you mom and I LOVE you Jesus, thank you for the hope that is only found in you.
Heaven is our true Home, and in the new creation.

John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Tonight's verse is continued from last week. God sent Jesus to save us. This is a part of the great verse of John 3:16 that should also be discussed.
We live in this world and we see so many terrible things happening. This week alone we see the tragedy in Brussels and no doubt in years to come there will be more. We see evil and destruction in the world with this in mind we have hope that Jesus redeems this fallen world to God and brings us into a relationship with Him.
My mom would no doubt be distraught over this week's attack in Brussels, at the same time I know my mom's response would be to turn to God maybe offer up prayers and trust that God knows what He is doing. Not to say that God is doing this but is allowing evil to be in the world but as Revelation 20:1-3 states this is "only for a little while". The Lord will return and this Universe as we know it will be replaced with a new Universe where all these things that we see, death destruction, decay will no longer be in existence, it will be the Perfect creation.
Today our hope is in Christ, who through Him the world might be saved.
I love you mom. Love you Jesus.
See you soon. HAPPY EASTER! HE IS RISEN!!

Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Tonight's verse is what Jesus told His disciples. Jesus wanted them to go out and fulfill what is known as the Great Commission. Today as Christian it is our highest calling. We as Christians are to go out and lead others to Him. How do we do this? Well by speaking to others about Christ, but also by our lives. How we live is probably more important than speaking. See whether we know it or not others are always watching, watching how we live, how we speak, how we treat others, etc. There's a saying to live and speak when necessary, this applies to the Great Commission, for this may cause others to come to us and ask why are we living in such a manner, our response needs to be in those moments JESUS! Then we can speak to them about Christ and, by God's grace lead them to Jesus.
My mom lived a life in my thoughts worthy of spending eternity with Christ. Mom had many hardships, fail marriage, raising 5 kids, leaving home (India) and never seeing mom's dad ever again, the list goes on. Mom's mission was to lead mom's kids to Christ.
In our lives we must remember as Christians the Great Commission, and that is no matter what is happening around us. As Jesus said above "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Thank you Mom for leading me to Jesus. Thank you Lord for your promises.
Love you Mom, Love you Jesus. I will be home pretty soon.
