Bible Study Fellowship - BSF Lesson 20 Questions

SCHOOL PROGRAM MEMORY VERSE: "And He said: 'I tell you the truth, unloess you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.' " -Matthew 18:3-4 (NIV84)
FIRST DAY: Read all notes with references.
1. What will you put into practice from the lecture? You have to be like a kid to enter Heaven. Unless you turn (change from your self seeking desires) and humble yourself can you enter Heaven. In your humility then you see how broken we are, and say Im done. At that point you turn and say Lord I am depending on you.
2. Where in your daily life will you apply the teaching of Matthew 18 and these notes? Truly remembering that I must be humble, poor in spirit needing a Savior to truly live and walk this way.
3. How did your study of Matthew 18 help you forgive, seek forgiveness or appreciate more fully God's forgiveness of you? To know that Jesus said we must be like a kid to enter Heaven, Knowing this fully knowing that I must stay and be humble.
SECOND DAY: Read Matthew 19:1-9
4. Read Genesis 1:27-28, and 2:23-25. How did Jesus use these passages to explain God's purpose in marriage for a man and woman?
-God wanted man and woman to be united in one flesh meaning they were now one, and to separate or divorce would be equivalent to splitting yourself
5. Read Deuteronomy 24:1-4
a. How did God mercifully protect women through the temporary permission to divorce, which He gave to Moses?
-God protected woman by allowing them to be divorced if the man hardened his heart...meaning He has hardened his heart to God??
b. According to Jesus, why did the Law of Moses permit men to divorce their wives?
-Because their hearts were hardened
c. How does this same issue underlie the problems you face in your family, friendships or church?
-sometimes it seems that we allow ourselves to not like certain things and therefore wanting to separate from something that was once good.
