BSF Lesson 17 Questions

SCHOOL PROGRAM MEMORY VERSE: "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men" -Matthew 15:8-9 (NIV84)
First Day: Read all notes with references.

1.
a. What thoughts in the lecture were helpful to you?

b. What lessons from the notes did you learn and apply?

Second Day: Read Matthew 16:1-12; Mark 8:10-21
2.

a. Why was the Pharisees' request for a sign wrong in view of what they knew of Jesus? Because only a generation that is wicked and adulteress look for this. Meaning they lack faith.

b. (Challenge) How can we today "interpret the signs of the times"? There is much debate about this. I would say this can only be interpreted by seeking scriptures, and knowing what the Bible says.

c. (Challenge) What was "the sign of Jonah"? In Jonah's day there were wicked people in Ninevah. God sent Jonah there to preach to these people.

3.

a. What did Jesus mean when He spoke of the "yeast of the Pharisees." according to Matthew 16?
-He meant their wicked ways

b. How did the disciples'  misunderstanding of Jesus' warning about the Pharisees' "yeast" reveal what they were thinking about much of the time?
